Safety & Privacy for Parents
Colloqui is built for kids, so protecting them matters more than anything else. Here is exactly how it works, in plain language. Have a question about any of this? Send a message right here and it comes straight to me.
Children’s privacy (COPPA)
Colloqui is meant to be used by children alongside a parent. We follow the spirit of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA): we collect as little as possible, never use a child’s information for advertising, and never sell it. A child can only join through an invite from someone already inside, so a parent or trusted adult is part of every account from the very start. If you’re a parent and want to review, change, or delete your child’s information, use the Report a concern button below.
What information we collect
Very little, on purpose:
- A screen name (a first name or a nickname, your choice).
- A small emoji “password.”
- An optional profile picture.
- The messages sent inside the app, so they can be delivered.
We do not require or collect email addresses, phone numbers, birthdays, home addresses, or your contacts. There are no third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
How we use it
Only to run the chat: showing who sent what, delivering messages, and sending notifications if you turn them on. Your information is never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers. Colloqui is owned and maintained by one parent, not a company.
Reporting abuse or a concern
If you ever see bullying, inappropriate content, or anything that worries you, send a message with the details (a screenshot helps). I review every report personally and act quickly, including removing content or accounts when needed.
Deleting an account
You can ask to delete your child’s account and its messages at any time. Send a message with the screen name and I’ll permanently remove the account and its data. There’s no cost and no hassle.
